Can there be anything worse than having your dog stolen? Joss (Ridley Mirek Malsville) was taken from his home in Nottinghamshire on July 14th 2006. For two weeks there was absolutely no news. Posters were circulated nationwide; Joss' details were added to many websites; newspapers and local radio carried the story, but it seemed as though Joss had vanished into thin air.

An interview with his owner, Liz Gay, on Radio Nottingham stressed the fact that the Cesky Terrier is very unusual, and that Joss was easily identifiable. Was that what did the trick?

That night, Joss was dumped, and ended up at Rescue Kennels. They must be the only people in the UK who hadn't heard of Joss' theft (even though they had been sent his details!). He was advertised as a Sealyham cross, and only two days later he caught the eye of a lady who was looking for a small dog as a companion. She went home to find out more about the Sealyham via the internet, and from there learned about the Cesky Terrier. Every website that she looked at highlighted that a Cesky Terrier had been stolen not too far from where she lives.

She phoned Liz and said "I think I know where your dog is"!!!!

Joss returned home on July 29th 2006.

Many, many thanks to everyone who helped to publicise his loss - especially those who added Joss to their websites - as without you he would not have returned home. A very special 'thankyou' to the lady who nearly bought Joss at the rescue kennels and to Jayne and the team at www.doglost.co.uk
